Groundbreaking ceremony January 29, 2005.
Demolishing the 1956 addition.
Saving materials from the old building to use for the renovation.
Was the stack wing really painted that color?!
It's now easier to imagine the original building as it was in 1884 when it was built.
Removing the old boiler.
The original entrance to the library. The original staircase was removed when the 1956 addition was built.
The fireplace in the former reference room is being protected.
For the "who would have thought" file: Investigation of the skylight area in the reference room uncovered old steam heat pipes in the ceiling about the skylight.
Trenches have been cut in the concrete floor of the former children's room for new plumbing.
The former children's room, facing toward the Pratt Room. You can see that we opened a wall and found a part of an old staircase that would have led to the reference room at one time.
