Copy, Scan, Fax, Print

Copy

The Watertown Free Public Library offers a "Scan to Print" station in place of a traditional photocopier. This station includes both a large flatbed scanner and a document feeder, can print to letter or legal sized paper, and can print on both sides of a page. Documents will be visible on screen and can be edited (cropped, rotated, or zoomed) after scanning.

Black and white prints cost $0.10 per page; color prints cost $0.40 per page. Payment can be made with coins, dollar bills, or credit cards.  Payment can also be made via print account, but funds cannot be loaded at the Scan to Print station and only one payment method can be used at a time.

Scan and Fax

The Adult Department is home to two touchscreen scan stations equipped with a flatbed scanner as well as a document feeder. The scanners allow books and documents to be scanned to a USB drive, email, Google Drive, smartphone (via QR code), or the printer (printing fees apply), and can even translate scanned documents for you.

Documents can be saved as PDF, JPG, or TIFF files. The scan stations offer both black and white and color scanning, feature an image editing interface for adjusting scans, and can scan items up to 11 inches by 17 inches.

Additionally, one scan station is also able to scan to FAX. Faxing is available to the US and Canada, costs $0.50 per page, and can be paid with coins, dollar bills, or credit cards at the payment tower next to the scan station.

The scan stations offer 30-minute sessions with no extensions.

Print

Each library department has its own color printer available. Patrons may print up to two black and white pages for free per day. Each page after that is $0.10 for black and white or $0.40 for color.

How to Print From Our Desktops

Use the print button to print the document or webpage like you normally would. A dialog box will indicate how many pages you are printing, and how much the charge will be. You may pay for print jobs from a print account, or pay as you go at the Print Release Station. Once you have sent all of your print jobs, stop by the Print Release Station near the printer, scan or type in your card number and select the jobs you’d like to print. If you have a print balance, the system will deduct the print cost and print your pages. Otherwise, you will be prompted to pay for the jobs you’ve indicated – payment may be made by cash, credit, or debit card.

Print jobs will remain in the Print Release Queue for 24 hours, and then be deleted.

How to Add Money to Your Print Account

At the Print Release Station, scan or type in your card number, and insert money. The system will add it to your print account.  Funds can only be added to your print account at the Print Release Station.
